DO YOU KNOW THE BEST WAY TO DO THINGS MORE EFFICIENTLY?
IT IS: STOP DOING THEM!

Sounds strange? Yes, indeed, but it's true.

We are all very busy every day. Each day we have a list of things we need to finish by the end of the work day. In most cases, it is routine work and we do it without knowing why we are doing it. And very frequently, the things that deserve a high priority don't get accomplished. And these are the things that would give us the greatest job satisfaction!

This idea is shared by Timothy Gallwey. He devoted an entire chapter in his book "The Inner Game of Work" discussing why and how you should stop doing your present busy work and give yourself more time to refresh and review your mental state.

The point is that if you spend the majority of your day doing busy work, the things that deserve higher priority don't get done because the minutiae takes up all your valuable time, both working time and thinking time. So to start to correct this, stop and let your mind slow down. Think about what you are doing now. Is it important? Does it have to be done today? Do you have something else more important to do?

Imagine this. You are busy. You have done a lot of things in a day. When you look back at the end of the day, you see that you have just had a busy but meaningless day. You don't feel happy or satisfied. You've found that you've just been doing routine work without solid reasons behind it.

How do you stop this? The best way is to "stop" and think several times a day. Look again at the things you are doing. Are they important? Must they be done right now? Is something else that you have not done but should have done because it is a higher priority?

Meditation can be an effective practice during this stop period. It helps you to revitalize your mind. Refer to another article: http://www.itotalsearch.com/15-minutes-a-day.html

So begin tomorrow. Try to stop at least three times in your busy work day. Remind yourself to pull out of the busy work and start your meditation. You'll find yourself soon accomplishing more things more efficiently. You'll start concentrating on the things that are a higher priority and, therefore, have more meaningful results. You will be more satisfied and feel happier than ever about your job.
